Our Vision

To build one of Australia’s leading Community Arts Precincts.

Tamborine Mountain Arts Precinct (TMAP) envisions a vibrant arts and community hub, poised to connect and support creatives and local businesses on Tamborine Mountain. In addition to fostering culture through a permanent gallery, creative co-working spaces, event spaces, café, bar, and workshops, TMAP also aspires to be a central arts and community information focal point, connecting the network of creatives and creative spaces on the mountain. Moreover, this cultural sanctuary will be designed to serve as a central hub, equipped to support the community during extreme weather events or other crises, thereby enhancing its role as a multifunctional beacon of culture, collaboration, and communal resilience.

To realise the full potential of this exciting opportunity, we warmly invite you to view our vision presentation.

Current Focus

At the centre of TMAP's efforts is the revitalisation of the Mount Tamborine Vineyard and Winery, located on the iconic Gallery Walk.
This historic site is poised to become the home of TMAP.

Our current objective is to secure this property, currently owned by the Scenic Rim Regional Council (SRRC). To achieve this, we need the support of the Queensland State Government to take over the property from the SRRC. This transformative solution promises a win-win-win outcome for the SRRC, the Queensland State Government, and the Scenic Rim Community.

By achieving this objective, we envision a vibrant future where:

  • The Scenic Rim Community benefits from an estimated $1.4 - $5.2 million economic boost over the next three years.

  • TMAP provides self-funded, perpetual arts grants, nurturing the local arts scene.

  • New job opportunities are created, enhancing local employment.

  • A world-first virtual 'Hidden Layer' tourist attraction draws visitors from far and wide.

  • We support Queensland's goal to be a top visitor destination for the 2032 Olympics.

  • SRRC's Arts and Culture Policy obligations are met and exceeded.

  • Integration and celebration of First Nations culture are prioritised.

  • We establish a prestigious Australian art prize on par with the Archibald Prize.

  • Gallery Walk, once iconic and now struggling, is revitalised as a cultural hotspot.

  • A centrally located Community Information and Disaster Hub is established, providing essential services and information.

This project has the potential to place Regional Queensland on the cultural map, becoming a significant tourist attraction and cultural hub. We have garnered substantial support from the community, local artists, schools, the film industry, Chamber of Commerce, Federal and State politicians, and key figures within the Arts and Cultural sector in South East Queensland. With over 1,100 petition signatures, our community-driven initiative is poised to bring lasting benefits and cultural enrichment to the Scenic Rim and beyond.
