Advancing Towards Our Vision: TMAP Engages With the Queensland Government for Alternate Pathway

On Monday, April 29th, 2024, two of the TMAP Co-founders John Tardy and Glen Pittock, along with Tania Frazer, Artistic Director, Artist in Residence Queensland Performing Arts Centre and Marg O'Donnell AO Chairperson Southern Cross Soloists, met with the office of the Queensland Arts Minister.

Ahead of the meeting, the office had viewed TMAP's 30-minute presentation video from February's Community Information Event, in order to be briefed on the project's vision. Since that Information Event, where Ashley Tardy and Glen Pittock outlined TMAP's ambitious plan to raise the funds to bid at auction to acquire the Mount Tamborine Winery on Gallery Walk, the TMAP proposal and vision has garnered enthusiastic support. Influential business figures and local government representatives have often referred to the project as a 'no-brainer', recognising its potential to be the catalyst for positive change along Gallery Walk.

However, there's a shared and growing sentiment that TMAP should explore alternative avenues beyond community fundraising to acquire the property from the Scenic Rim Council. This feedback was discussed during Monday’s meeting, underlining the necessity of identifying a different approach.

TMAP is continuing discussions with the Queensland Government, and relevant offices, aiming to bring its vision for the Tamborine Mountain Arts Precinct to fruition.

At this crucial juncture, demonstrating community support is paramount. You can contribute to TMAP's mission by signing our petition at:

Together, we can make this vision a reality for our Community.
