TMAP’s Meeting with QLD Minister for State Development

Dear TMAP Supporters,

We are pleased to inform you that our meeting with the Minister of State Development, Hon. Grace Grace, and her advisors yesterday afternoon at 1 Williams St, Brisbane, was very positive.

During the meeting, we outlined the potential value and contribution of the TMAP initiative to the local community. It was a pleasure to share this with Minister Grace, who is renowned for her Community involvement and advocacy.

We engaged in an open discussion covering the following points:

- The 122 Gallery Walk property as the location for the Community Initiative

- The benefits of this property for TMAP and the local community

-  Increased paid employment and voluntary work for the local Community

- The projected $1.2 - $5.5 million redistribution to the Scenic Rim Community, from TMAP, over the next three years

- Collaborations with local schools around art programs, prizes and scholarships

- Support from Australia’s largest Architecture firm - Architectus

- Supporting economic growth and increased government revenue

- A ‘world first’ tourist attraction within TMAP

- A platform for local Indigenous members

- Additional relevant topics

We also discussed the Queensland Government Land Transaction Policy: 3.7 In-Priority disposals where In-priority disposals may be appropriate in special cases where reasons exist that would be in the best interest of the community.

Also discussed was Queensland Local Government Regulations 2012 236(1) where a local government may dispose of a valuable on-current asset other than by tender or auction if the valuable non-current asset is disposed of to:

(i) a government agency; or

(ii) a community organisation; or

C (A) it is in the public interest to dispose of the land without tender or auction.

Minister Grace Grace communicated her understanding that this policy enables SRRC to explore options with government, or local community initiatives contributing to community benefit, such as TMAP, for disposal of the property.

It was a pleasure meeting with Minister Grace Grace, and her Advisors, and discussing all things TMAP, Arts, Culture and Community and we are looking forward to talking with her again in the near future.
